Resolve Note and the five big note apps.

We compared Resolve Note with five note apps. Google Keep, Microsoft OneNote and Zoho Notebook are the ones it was designed around; Evernote is the long-time classic, and Notion is the most popular all-in-one workspace. Samsung Notes was left out because it runs only on Samsung phones.

Checked on 21 October 2026 against each company's own help, support and privacy pages (listed at the bottom). We compared the Android apps on free plans. If something here is out of date, tell us at resolvenoteapp@proton.me and we will fix it.

12 things Resolve Note does that they don't.

Each point says exactly which apps lack it. Where one of them has it, we say that too.

End-to-end encryption for every note

Turn on sync and each note is encrypted on your phone before it leaves. The server holds only unreadable data. Keep, Zoho Notebook and Notion encrypt on their own servers with keys they hold; OneNote protects only the sections you password-protect, and Evernote only the text you select, on desktop and web.

None of the five encrypts every note end to end.

Sync with no e-mail and no phone number

Your sync account is a random ID plus a passphrase only you know. Nothing about you is needed to sign up.

All five need an account to sync.

Works fully without an account

Notes stay on your phone by default. Install and start writing; nothing to sign up for.

Keep, OneNote, Evernote and Notion need an account. Zoho Notebook documents a guest mode only for iOS.

Unlock with a YubiKey

Tap a YubiKey over NFC or plug it in over USB to open the app, instead of your PIN or together with it as a second factor.

None of the five offers hardware-key app unlock; their security-key support is for account sign-in.

A different password for each note

Lock one note or many. Use one password for a group, or give every note its own. Locked notes stay encrypted even while the app is open.

Zoho Notebook uses one passcode for all locked notes; OneNote locks whole sections; Evernote encrypts text blocks on desktop and web; Keep and Notion have no note lock.

Your own sync server, if you want one

The sync server address is a setting. Use the default one, or point the app at a server you run.

None of the five lets you pick the sync server on Android. OneNote desktop can store notebooks on SharePoint.

One encrypted backup file for everything

Export all your notes, images and drawings into a single file sealed with a password (Argon2id + AES-256-GCM). Restore it on any phone.

Keep, OneNote, Evernote and Notion export unencrypted files. Zoho Notebook can password-protect one exported note at a time.

106 themes

Light, dark, AMOLED black, gradients and patterns, drawn as vector graphics so they stay sharp on any screen.

All five offer light, dark or follow-system.

No analytics, no ads, no trackers

The app contains no analytics or advertising code. We do not know how you use it, and we like it that way.

All five privacy policies describe collecting usage or diagnostic data (Zoho Notebook lets you opt out).

A built-in app lock, free

PIN, password, fingerprint or face, with auto-lock after a time you choose and a growing delay after wrong attempts.

Keep and Notion have no app lock; OneNote offers one only for work accounts managed with Intune. Evernote and Zoho Notebook do have one.

A screenshot block you control

One switch blocks screenshots and screen recording, and hides the app in the recent-apps screen.

Keep and Notion have none; OneNote only under a work-account policy. Evernote blocks screenshots when its passcode is on; for Zoho Notebook we found no official mention.

23 fonts, including Hindi

Noto Sans Devanagari, Hind, Mukta, Martel, Tiro Devanagari Hindi, Kalam and more, plus four text sizes.

Keep has no font choice and Notion offers three. Evernote and Zoho Notebook offer font choice; OneNote does on desktop.

Side by side.

Where the others lead.

Resolve Note is a private notebook for one person on Android. If you need to work with other people, on a computer, or with voice notes, text search inside photos or PDF export, the others do those things today and Resolve Note does not. We would rather tell you than have you find out later.
